Duties
If selected at the GS-12 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity.
Serve as an Assistant Joint Strategic Planner in the Strategic Plans and Futures (SPF) Division (J355), under the Plans Executive Directorate (J35), DLA Logistics Operations (J3), Headquarters, Defense Logistics Agency (DLA).
Identifies sustainment and readiness capabilities in the future operating environment with implications for Defense Logistics Agency.
Assist in integrating new sustainment capabilities for the future force within DLA.
Researches and analyzes DLA performance metrics, business strategies, and other key data and information.
Analyzes and communicates new and emerging concepts, principles, and techniques that will advance business process re-engineering methods and techniques to solve complex processing requirements.
Supports Senior Strategic Planners engagement in the Joint Requirements Oversight Council and Functional Capabilities Board processes.
Prepares and reviews wide range of correspondence for the principals (e.g. correspondence, white papers, reports, fact sheets, requests for information, memorandums of agreement, and written and oral congressional testimony).
Assists in the program management of planning groups, studies, experiments, and wargames.

Qualifications
To qualify for a Strategic Planner, your resume and supporting documentation must support:
A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes:
GS-12:
Conducting analysis, developing plans, goals, objectives, and solutions to operational problems within the organization involving multi-functional interface.
Preparing, presenting, and discussing plans, briefings, information papers, and other communications to clarify and support the work of the organization.
GS-13:
Researching and analyzing performance metrics, business strategies, military and logistics systems, policies, doctrine, organization, planning systems, concepts, and other key data pertaining to joint planning and operations.
Identifying and analyzing issues and developing recommendations to resolve substantive problems related to strategic planning and futures forces.
Developing solutions to operational problems within complex, multi functional organizations
Preparing, presenting, and discussing plans, briefings, information papers, and other communications to clarify and support the work of the organization, including analyses and studies that support the DoD mission and implementation of joint concepts.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
