You will serve as the Head of the Ordnance Operations Division of the Navy Munitions Command Pacific CONUS West Division (NMCPAC CWD) Detachment Whidbey Island.
Duties
You will manage work concerned with receiving, handling, storing, maintaining while in storage, issuing, and physically controlling all classes of ammunition, explosives and associated components within the storage and distribution system.
You will serve as principal advisor to the Detachment Whidbey Island Officer in Charge (OIC) on ammunition, explosives and related operations.
You will direct, control and evaluate the requirements for ammunition and explosives in support of the Detachment's mission.
You will plan and direct the assigned functional ordnance operating program.
You will study and interpret general directives and regulations from higher echelons relating to the management of the Detachment's ordnance/ammunition mission.
You will plan the use of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, tools and other resources to meet the requirements of special projects, Fleet mission and production schedules.
You will communicate directly with the OIC on the status of work in progress, availability of resources, manpower and the need for any overtime.
You will coordinate work among workers and other supervisory/leader personnel to ensure schedule is supported with material/equipment to maintain work progress and to meet schedules.
You will inspect ongoing ordnance operations to ensure compliance with ordnance publications, directives and safety requirements.
You will train and certify subordinates in work methods and procedures, and the safe handling and transportation of explosives/ordnance material.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: supporting the management of administrative and technical logistics work for an ordnance storage and distribution facility (e.g. manpower, receipt, handling, maintaining, issuing, shipping and physically controlling ammunition and explosives).
