About the Position: Serves as a Maintenance Control Technician within Navigation Division which includes two hopper dredges, multiple survey vessels, US Moorings maintenance facility and District Warehouse. As a Facilities Services Assistant, the primary responsibility for this position is the ongoing maintenance, control and administration of a comprehensive preventive maintenance control program and automated data system, Facilities Equipment Maintenance System (FEM).
Duties
Utilizes an automated maintenance control data system, such as FEM/MAXIMO, to provide system control, oversight, repair history, analysis, data entry, and documentation of current and future maintenance operations
Organizes, complies all pertinent information, assures accuracy, and enters data and updates for each piece of equipment into the maintenance system.
Monitors FEM/MAXIMO for new personal property records.
Utilizes the control system to issue and schedule routine and cyclic maintenance, repair and replacement of all equipment, machinery, etc.
Prepares or assists the supervisor in preparing annual and periodic program reports, which may include major items of repair, problems occurring, and information affecting workload.
Serves as Project Advisor and Systems Administrator on the various functions and features of computer hardware/software, FEM/MAXIMO system, and other related data maintenance matters.
Makes recommendations concerning changes in business practices and changes in FEM/MAXIMO software operations.
Troubleshoots system problems and issues, to include problems with access, printing, server connectivity, permissions, training, etc.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing the repair and maintenance schedules for facilities and equipment common to marine facilities or industrial facilities using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08).
