This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI), Patient Care Models Group (PCMG), Division of Payment Models (DPM).
As a Supervisory Health Insurance Specialist, GS-0107-15, you will serve as the Division Director responsible for directing staff in the successful implementation and operation of alternative payment models.
Duties
Directs the work of DPM and plans work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjusts short-term priorities, and prepares schedules for completion of work.
Assigns work to subordinates; reviews work performance; conducts formal performance appraisals.
Consults with CMS representatives, relevant federal agencies, states, clinical and analytic experts, health care providers, beneficiaries, and other payers to obtain and further develop ideas and concepts that may lead to new and/or modified tests.
Provides technical leadership and expertise to various CMS and non-Governmental entities on health care payment and delivery system reform alternatives.
Directs the development and implementation of models that test innovative payment approaches that incentivize care redesign around the continuum of care in acute and post-acute care settings.

In order to qualify for the GS-15, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:
Developing alternative payment methodologies for health care providers; AND
Engaging with either governmental or non-governmental entities on health care payment and delivery systems; AND
Utilizing data analysis to propose payment policies for models that focus on specialty care.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
