The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is seeking energetic, highly-motivated students to fill several summer internship positions. The Federal Housing Finance Agency is a small, dynamic, fast-paced federal agency whose work has far-reaching impact. If selected, you will be part of an integrated team playing a key role in the current and future U.S. housing market.

Duties

FHFA's summer internship program is not a remote program. All summer interns will be expected to report to their duty station consistent with the FHFA Telework Policy. FHFA is dedicated to hiring a diverse and capable workforce. We are looking for interns pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in: Economics, Financial Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, or Mathematics; You are applying to this announcement This is a temporary appointment intended for the summer session not to exceed 90-days. Summer Interns may be extended and/or converted into permanent positions without further competition. Interns working during the school year, may be eligible to work remotely while in school. Trainees will be involved in a variety of entry-level assignments designed to provide insight into the challenges and opportunities in the Federal Government. FHFA has internship positions available throughout the agency. Trainees will be responsible for carrying out technical assignments for the mission offices within FHFA. Assignments may include the following: assist in basic research; qualitative and quantitative research; development of statistical and/or financial tables and graphic displays; data collection and analyses, etc. Trainees may also assist in preparing briefing papers, and/or position papers; assist in conducting financial research and presenting their findings, assist in the preparation of management reports, assist in the preparation of risk assessments, track and document changes, and/or collect and analyze data. FHFA-25-01-PATH-599: Exam/Finance : Economics, Financial Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, or Mathematics; You are applying to this announcement 2. FHFA-25-02-PATH-399: Program Support: Public administration, Government, International Relations, Public Policy, Political Science, Communications, HR. 3. FHFA-25-03-PATH-2299: Information Technology: Computer Science, Information Science, Information Technology, or Information Systems 4. FHFA-25-04-PATH-999: Law: Pre-law, Law This is a temporary appointment intended for the summer session not to exceed August 31, 2025, but may be extended without further competition. At the successful conclusion of this internship program, the agency may non-competitively convert individuals to a Term or Permanent position in the competitive service. Extensions or conversions are based on the performance of the incumbent. Salary will be based on educational level.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Enrolled at least part-time in a degree-seeking program.
  • Completed 2 years of post-high school education or Associate's degree.
  • Must have at least a cumulative 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
  • Be at least 16 years of age at time of appointment.
  • Resume and supporting documents (See Required Documents section)
  • Interns are allowed to telework, but must come into the office at least once per week.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service
  • Suitable for Federal employment, as determined by background investigation
  • FHFA participates in e-Verify. All new hires must complete the I-9 Employment Verification form either on or before their first day of employment. If a discrepancy arises, you must take affirmative steps to resolve the matter.
  • Bargaining Unit Status: Ineligible
  • These are NOT remote positions. All interns will be expected to report to their duty station consistent with the FHFA Telework Policy.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet ALL of the following general qualification requirements listed below in order to receive consideration for an intern position. Grade 04: Current students at least 16 years of age. Completed 2 academic years of post-high school study or associate' degree. Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Economics, Financial Management, Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Statistics, or Mathematics. Maintained a 2.5 overall grade point average or higher (on a 4 point scale). Candidates with Veteran's preference, who meet the basic qualification requirements for this vacancy, will be given priority over non-preference candidates. Education

Education is the only thing that will qualify you for these positions. You must have completed 2 years of post-high school education or Associate's degree by the beginning of your summer internship, and must attending school in the fall.

If you are graduating in the Spring, in order to be eligible, you must submit proof that you will be attending school in the Fall.
