This position is located in the U.S. International Trade Commission, Office of the Chief Financial Officer. There is the possibility of extension for the duration of time enrolled in an accredited academic institution based on workload requirements and budget availability.
Duties
As a Pathways Intern, you will be responsible for the following:
Assists with assignments or projects that require application of standard well-established principles, concepts, and techniques of the occupation.
Works under the guidance of and assists experienced Finance personnel in such tasks as obtaining, compiling and summarizing financial information and applying basic accounting and budgetary practices.
Processes sources of factual data about budgeting and/or finance matters relevant to assigned tasks.
Performs developmental activities and administrative tasks in support of the mission of the Office of the Chief Financial Officer.
Requirements
- You must be a U.S. citizen or national.
- You must be able to obtain a background security investigation.
- You will be required to sign a Pathways Program Participant Agreement.
- You must meet the criteria for Internship under the Pathways Program.
- You are required to register for Selective Service if you are a male born after 12/03/1959.
- You may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

To be eligible for basic consideration, all Pathways Interns must:
Be enrolled, or accepted for enrollment, on at least a half-time basis, at a qualifying educational institution.
Be seeking a diploma, degree, or certificate.
Be in good academic standing and have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.50.

To qualify at the GS-7 level, you must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 grade level obtained in the federal or private sector which is defined as: gathering data required for reporting purposes, prepares spreadsheets, memoranda, and reports; gather information, understanding automated financial systems concepts, performing subsidiary and general ledger account reconciliations, providing support for financial statement preparation.
Completion of 1 full academic year of graduate level education.
OR
Superior Academic Achievement - you meet one of the requirements listed in the superior academic achievement description. (1) Class Standing - Upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - Membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org) AND completion of a bachelor's degree.

Combination of education and experience that meet the qualification requirements for this position.
