About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, headquartered in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command, staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 66 military processing locations (Military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS)/Remote Processing Stations (RPS)), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services.
This position will be filled on a Permanent basis.
Duties
As a Management Analyst, you will:
Serve as Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) subject matter expert for recruit travel programs and recruit travel systems
Continuously perform research and investigate new/improved business and management practices involving routing and fares for recruits and the Travel Management Company to achieve warfighter requirements (right person, right place, and right time).
Ensure the functional and operational requirements to support the Recruiting Services are analyzed, documented, and implemented
Act as a steward of functional data captured within the Command’s accession reporting system and defense travel systems to ensure the data is credible through analysis and reconciliation
Plan, develop, and conduct on-site organizational visits to subordinate units.
Train staff on the recruit travel program and systems.
Gather, analyze, initiate, develop program documentation (business rules, data rqmts, design specifications, change proposals) in support of recruit travel/defense travel systems for software development, interfaces, future enhancements, user access.
If filled at the GS-07 or GS-09 level, duties will be performed in a developmental capacity under supervision.

Experience required for GS-07: Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Providing assistance to staff testing of automated systems; Retrieving and organizing data requested by staff members; Preparing a variety of documents (i.e. spreadsheets, flowcharts, graphs, briefing charts, correspondence, etc.) utilizing automated systems; Reviewing simple processes to identify possible areas for improvement. The definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-05).

Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-07: Successful completion of one (1) full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Management, Business Administration, Analytics, or a closely related field. Superior academic achievement for GS-07: I have successfully completed all the requirements for a bachelor's degree and am claiming Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-11: Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such as Business Management, Business Administration, Analytics, or a closely related field.
