About the Position: This position is in support of J-3/5/7 Operations Branch (J-3), for the Defense Health Agency, located in Falls Church, Virginia.

Duties
Execute administrative policies, determines and implements appropriate procedures.
Identify problem areas and recommends actions to improve procedures, increase efficiency, eliminate problems and conform to requirements.
Read incoming high priority mail and utilizes knowledge of the DHA J3 leadership's priority activities to route or refer to other personnel where appropriate.
Provide advice and develops talking points for senior leader engagement on strategic matters.
Function vary from participation on special projects for the Director, J3 and the DHA J3 leadership, to providing technical assistance and guidance to other directors and offices to support internal initiatives.
Utilize electronic mail and calendaring systems, as well as various software packages to prepare reports and briefings, and all forms of correspondence.
Establish internal procedures to secure and adequately control deadlines, progress reports, and directives.
Review and analyze administrative processes to make recommendations for implementation of changes to improve organizational effectiveness and to ensure continuous process improvement.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of
employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- This position is a Testing Designated Position subject to pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selectees will be required to consent to participation in random drug urinalysis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes drafting various types of written correspondence, conducting analysis of organizational processes to identify improvements and providing executive support to leadership on administrative functions (such as scheduling, correspondence review, travel plans, etc.). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
