You will serve as a FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST in the FACILITIES SUPPORT GROUP, NAVAL SUBMARINE SUPPORT FACILITY of NAVAL SUBMARINE SUPPORT FACILITY.

Duties

You will conduct project planning, development designs, and review proposed facilities requirements. You will maintain a centralized control system for facilities maintenance, improvements, and alterations. You will manage the building manager programs for 27 building mangers as well as serve as Command Hurricane coordinator and Key Control Officer. You will perform quality assurance evaluations on projects and contracts for Facilities, Industrial Plant Equipment, and Command Transportation program.

Requirements

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators, and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing knowledge of the mechanical principles relating to all types of equipment. Contracting, constructing, operating, overhauling, maintaining, repairing and installing of equipment. Establishing initial repair and replacement costs as well as determining requirements for technical data. Interpreting and evaluating maintenance requirements and operational capabilities of equipment. Reasoning logically and objectively to plan and organize work to meeting deadline under pressure while to work with others. Writing narrative reports. Education

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Applicants may substitute the following education for the required experience, provided it demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of the position:

GS-11: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; or LL.M., if related.

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be used to meet the total qualification requirements.
