You will serve as an Environmental Protection Specialist in the Environmental Division of NAVFAC Southwest Naval Weapons Station Seal Beach.
Duties
You will manage the Hazardous Waste program including coordinating waste collection with tenants, submitting regulatory documents to agencies, completing Navy data calls, creating training documentation and conducting training and awareness events.
You will submit necessary annual and biennial reports to regulatory agencies and Navy.
You will maintain knowledge/oversight of compliance status including inspection discrepancies, status of correction actions and ensuring base instructions and management plans are up to date with most recent environmental laws.
You will conduct site inspections and working with tenants in closing any violations.
You will support base commands and tenants to meet EMS requirements by providing trainings on regulatory requirements and implementation of best management practices.
You will work with Environmental staff in support of HW collection at detachments and ensuring all projects receive sufficient NEPA oversight.
You will respond to spills and implement necessary clean-up actions as standard Navy policy.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the grade level or GS-11 band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Implementing processes to solve problems for environmental media; 2) Applying knowledge of various environmental laws, regulations, and standards to support customer, program, and regulatory requirements; 3) Providing products and services for various environmental media (i.e. hazardous waste, wastewater, storm water, etc.); and 4) Communicating in order to clarify, interpret, and advise on environmental laws, regulations, policies, and guidance.
