About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency, located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Directorate of Resource Management, Logistical Division, Honolulu Hawaii.
Duties
Read, write and maintain files of various documents to include turn in requests, discrepancy reports shipping and receiving documents.
Follow safety rules and/or regulations when operating motorized equipment to prevent damages to warehouse.
Store toxic chemicals, precious metals, and controlled substances in accordance with regulations.
Conduct surveys of warehouse to sort out bad containers and/or damaged items.
Maintain inventory records to ensure adequate stock levels are available.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position has a requirement to lift up to 70 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
- This position requires Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.
- This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
- Employees assigned to a medical treatment facility are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity based on occupational risk, regardless of job series.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- Position may be designated as Mission Essential. The incumbent will be required to report to work during times of contingency operations, natural disasters, extreme weather or other emergency situations.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Forklift Operator License within 120 days of employment.
- Must be able to attend and pass a military driver’s training course within one year of on-board.
- Position requires the incumbent to obtain and maintain a Federal or State driver’s license.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.

Minimum Qualifications: Ability to do the work of a(n) Materials Handler (Forklift Operator) ~ without more than normal supervision. Operating mechanized equipment including utility vehicles, standard size forklifts, mobile stock selectors, and electromechanical automated equipment; verifying the quantity and condition of materials and equipment handled; and using computer terminals to receive and transmit storage, inventory, and requisition data - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.

PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time, and to bend, stoop, and work in tiring and sometimes uncomfortable positions. They may lift and carry items that weigh up to 70 pounds. Heavier items are moved with weight handling equipment, push carts or with the assistance of other workers. Moderate physical effort is used in operating hand and foot controls while driving, turning, starting, and stopping the forklift truck and raising, lowering, and tilting the loads being moved. Strain is caused by the vibration of the fork lift truck.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is done inside or outside in areas that may be hot, damp, cold, drafty or poorly lighted. May be regularly exposed to the possibility of cuts, scrapes, bruises, abrasions, falls, injury from falling stock, physical handling of moderately heavy items or moving MHE. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, solvents and to high noise levels. When working around hazardous materials, may be subject to exposure from radiation, toxins, explosive hazards, flammables, or chemical fumes. Work may require wearing protective clothing such as hard-hats, steel-toed shoes, rubber gloves, masks, safety glasses, rubber aprons, back supports and harnesses/belts. Driving work is performed outside and incumbent is occasionally exposed to bad weather when loading and unloading vehicles. Drives in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of serious accidents.
