About the Position: This position is within the Department of Nutrition Care, Food Production and Services, located at Tripler Army Medical Center (TAMC), which is on the Island of Oahu, Hawaii. Tripler Army Medical Center is a tobacco-free workplace. Tobacco products include, but are not limited to, smoking, smokeless tobacco, and electronic nicotine delivery devices.

Duties

Responsible for document screening and verifying the quantity of food and non-food items received. Report discrepancies between items ordered and items received in order to make appropriate adjustments in planned menus. Monitor stock levels daily and reorders when quantities reach predetermined restock levels. Ensure orders are place in accordance with established order/shipment/receipt parameters. Oversee and participate in the loading, unloading, lashing, securing, and sealing of food service equipment and supplies for transporting. Perform driver's maintenance on vehicle in accordance with established procedures for tire pressure, oil pressure, and fluid levels.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Position is designated as Mission Essential. Incumbent will be required to ensure continuity of Tripler Army Medical Center’s operations during ALL hazard's emergency situations.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • This position requires successful completion of pre-placement and annual medical examinations.
  • This position requires immunization screening and applicable immunizations.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
  • This position may require lifting up to 70 pounds.
  • This position may require rotating shift work between the hours of 0530-1400, and may also include weekends and holidays.

When loading, unloading, and storing food and non-food items, may be required to lift and move items up to 70 pounds and over 100 pounds with mechanical or manual assistance. Light physical effort is used in reaching bending, turning and moving hands, arms, feet and legs to operate hand and food controls during vehicle operation. Working Conditions: Work is accomplished indoors and outdoors during all kinds of weather. Computer imput, ordering and related paper work activities are completed in an office area. During the storing and inventorying of food items, individual may be exposed to temperatures below 32 degrees and to hot temperatures when receiving orders during the summer months. Hearing protection devices and other protection and safety equipment are available and must be worn at all times when exposed to hazardous conditions or to cold environments. Potential for cuts, bruises and broken bones as a result of accidents while operating vehicle or when loading/unloading deliveries; potential for strains and sprains when lifting boxes of product; some danger from items falling from upper shelves if not positioned correctly and from slipping on wet floors.
