Join our dynamic team as an Information Technology Specialist (InfoSec) focused on Information Security! In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for a wide range of assignments and projects relative to information systems and security matters. This position plays a role in safeguarding against evolving cyber threats and ensuring the integrity of our systems.
Duties
Assist in coordinating the implementation of security programs across platforms and establishes vulnerability reporting criteria.
Assist in implementing, and evaluating the security programs of an organization, including the implementation of security programs designed to anticipate, assess, and minimize system vulnerabilities such as intrusion detection or access authentication programs.
Assist in ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancement of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools.
Assist in assists in reviewing proposed new systems, networks, and software designs for potential security risks; and resolves integration issues related to the implementation of new systems with the existing infrastructure.
Coordinates with other IC and/or NIH staff on the development of information security system and application policies, guidelines, standards, requirements, and procedures.
Participates in Web based applications, network, and systems designs to ensure the implementation of systems security policies, guidelines and procedures, including initial design; system life cycle change review; and configuration management.
Participates in testing and implementation of new security technologies
Requirements

Qualifications
You qualify at the GS-11 level, if you meet one of the following qualification requirements:
Choose the one answer that best describes how you meet the basic qualification requirements for an Information Technology Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-11 as described in the Qualifications Section of the Vacancy Announcement.
A. I qualify for this position at the GS-11 level because I have completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks, or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in one of the areas described above leading to such a degree.
B. I qualify for this position at the GS-11 level because I have IT related experience demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates that I possess each of the following four competencies: 1. Attention to Detail - is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail; 2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services; 3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately; 4. Problem Solving - identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations, AND, I have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector typically gained in the IT field or through performing IT related tasks such as: participating in the implementation and evaluation of security programs for an organization designed to anticipate, assess and minimize system vulnerabilities such as intrusion detection or access authentication programs, assisting with the development of policies, guidelines, standards, requirements, and procedures covering Information Security Systems, and participating in the testing of new security technologies.
