This position is established to manage and direct the activities of staff responsible for worklife initiatives such as childcare, eldercare, parental needs, employee assistance, and employee health and wellness; employee benefits such as retirement, health insurance, life insurance, thrift savings plan, workers' compensation, and separation; and the development of plans and programs for achieving and maintaining quality control throughout the Branch.

Duties

The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia.This position is telework eligible per agency and business unit discretion/policy.

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. OPM Qualifications Standards are available at Administrative and Management Positions. Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-13. Specialized experience for this position includes: Experience providing leadership an overview of work life and benefits programs. Experience evaluating programs or office functions and recommending more efficient and effective policies and procedures. Experience demonstrating supervisory duties, including performance management, planning and allocating work, and assessing training needs for the staff. Experience in applying broad benefits human resources principles, practices, regulations and policies. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Education can not be substituted for specialized experience at the GS-14 grade level.
