About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Clinical Support Nutrition Care Food Production and Services at the Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Moore, in Columbus Georgia. Normal working hours are 8 hour rotating shifts to include weekends and holidays. The primary purpose is to serve as a Cook Leader leading employees in the accomplishing trades and labor work.

Duties

Ensure recipes, supplies, equipment and cooking utensils are available for use. Order food in accordance with daily and weekly menu requirements. Provide information to supervisor on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems. Complete food prep work along with other cooks and food service workers. Maintain rotation of food inventories to prevent spoilage. Reinforce supervisor’s instructions through demonstration of proper work techniques.

• This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.

• Moderate to heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required.
• This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
• This position requires the employee to wear a uniform, scrubs, or other appropriate medical professional attire while on duty.

I am skilled in reviewing all recipes, supplies, equipment and cooking utensils are available for use. I have the ability to prepare menu items in accordance with safety standards and maintain rotation of food inventories to prevent spoilage. I have the ability to weigh, measure and assemble ingredients for regular and modified menu items. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
