About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency. It is located within the Clinical Support Nutrition Care Food Production and Services at the Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Moore, (formally known as Fort Benning), in Columbus Georgia. The primary purpose is to serve as a Cook Leader leading employees in the accomplishing trades and labor work.

Duties

Pass on to workers instructions received from the supervisor and start work by assigning the immediate tasks to be performed by individual members of the group led. Set up and replenish salad bar, serve hot foods on cafeteria lines, and portion food for individual servings on trays in accordance with instructions. Operate a variety of kitchen equipment which utilize gas, electricity, steam or microwave heat sources to prepare a variety of foods. Prepare a variety of menu items to include regular and special diet entrees and desserts. Ensure that food code worksheets are documented daily with the amount of food prepared, leftover, or discarded, and with the names of persons assigned to prepare menu items. Adjust standardized recipes for the number of servings required in large quantity cooking. Issue change fund to tellers and verify receipts and funds at meal end. Answer workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives. Clean and maintain in sanitary condition, equipment and work areas by sweeping and mopping floors; washing utensils, tables and refrigerators; and cleaning ovens and ranges. Maintain rotation of food inventories to prevent spoilage.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
  • This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
  • This position requires the employee to wear a uniform, scrubs, or other appropriate medical professional attire while on duty.
  • This position has a requirement to lift up to 30 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.
  • This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Employee shifts are rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. Employee is required to remain in place or report for duty during inclement weather conditions or other appropriate emergency conditions.

Preparing a variety of menu items to include regular and special diet entrees and desserts. Adjust standardized recipes for the number of servings required in large quantity cooking. In addition, I have the ability to weigh, measure and assemble ingredients for regular and modified menu items.
