Duties
Serve as a Health System Specialist and subject matter expert in Healthcare Risk Management (HRM) for the Defense Health Network (DHN) with expertise in all technical and functional issues related to HRM programs.
Coordinates all healthcare risk management activities regarding Quality Assurance directly pertaining to delivery of health care and works collaboratively and closely with the network Chief Clinical Quality Management and HQ DHA HRM program.
Provides technical assistance and guidance to include on-site and virtual visits as necessary.
Uses HRM programs and/or other Personal Computer (PC) based application programs to develop statistical and other reports for the DHA staff and other agencies as required.
Advisor and primary point of contact for provider adverse action and adverse event management within the DHN.
Review and coordinate Healthcare Risk Management cases at MTF level and those elevated to the DHN level to ensure accuracy and inclusiveness of documentation.
Regularly brief DHN leadership on HRM case status within their network.
Work closely in association with other programs within the DHN to support a comprehensive strategy.
Track efficiency of the HRM process; recommends and implements procedural improvements.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A favorable Tier 3 background investigation is required for all Non-Critical Sensitive (NCS), Moderate Risk positions.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes identifying/analyzing adverse events, identify process improvements/Healthcare risk reduction; completing and analyzing adverse action files; ensuring compliance with policies and/or procedures across medical facilities; developing or advising on new directives; and advising senior leaders regarding healthcare risk management. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-12.
