About the Position: Incumbent will be located in a reception area in quality services, assisting Readiness compliance, Infection control, patient safety and Process Improvement with administrative responsibilities.
Position is Monday thru Friday in a general office setting. Hours are 0730-1630 with 1 hour lunch break.
Telework is not available.
Duties
Complete duties independently with the supervisor providing additional instructions on new, difficult, or special assignments.
Perform a broad variety of administrative and clerical support duties in support of quality assurance functions within an accredited Medical Center.
Provide administrative and office automation support to various sections to include Performance Improvement (PI/JCAHO), Risk Management (RM) and/or Utilization Management (UM) of the Quality Services Division.
Review source data, including, but not limited to, medical records, minutes, local publications.
Collect data and/or identifies error discrepancies such as incomplete entries or absences of conclusions.
Contact health care provider or administrative personnel to resolve minor discrepancies and/or to verify information; and summarizes, complies or consolidates data in required format.
Prepare graphs or charts (Excel, Access, etc) for follow up, and/or detailed examination by the Chief, Quality Services Division, Performance Improvement Coordinator/JCAHO Liaison, Risk Manager, etc.
Independent judgment is used in analyzing relatively common problems associated with data in terms of transposed dates, obvious errors in use of medical terms, format and similar items.
Prepare instructional correspondence for corrective action, assigns suspense date and forwards to the appropriate department/service.
Schedule meetings, records and transcribes minutes as required and keeps related records.
Ensure reproduction and distribution of various reports and documents as required.
Review incoming correspondence.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.
- Selectees will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Immunization screening is required; i.e. Tuberculosis Screening. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Moderate to heavy lifting up to 45 pounds is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining office files in accordance with established regulations and guidelines; transcribing minutes for records and utilizing automated computer data processing systems to provide administrative support which includes compiling data, preparing reports and correspondence using Microsoft Office software. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
