The incumbent works with staff to ensure the Beneficiary Travel, Special Mode Transportation, Fraud Prevention,and Ambulance and Wheelchair billing programs.
Duties

Duties will include, but may not be limited to the following:
Assisting Veterans, healthcare workers, and caregivers with transportation needs.
Coordinating with volunteer transportation network participants to transport ambulatory patients.
Communication by phone or text with scheduled passengers to confirm transportation need and pickup time prior to finalization of schedule.
Communicating clearly and effectively using multiple tools, phone, text, teams, outlook, and meetings.
Maintaining web-based transportation scheduling and reporting system.
Instructing via phone and computer on processes to enter transportation requests and document clinical needs for medical modes of transportation.
Utilizing resources to maximize driver and vehicle efficiency.
Scheduling passengers and assigning to vehicles.
Adjusting schedule in web-base system throughout the day as the schedules change.
Coordinating with Special Mode (SM) Transportation assistant for best available and cost analysis of transport of patients.
Verifying the information in electronic patient record system is updated regarding the medical status of the Veteran and medical mode needed.
Managing scheduling of vehicles maintenance and repairs in conjunction with patient transportation needs
Verifying medical care is VA/VA authorized by calling and researching in computer systems.
Verifying appointment date, time and location are correct prior to finalizing schedule.
Investigating the patient record and enters all the demographic and medical information required by the transportation scheduling program.
Dispatching and managing multiple transports with frequent adjustments throughout the day.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Qualifications
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience includes coordinating and scheduling patient transportation services, determining travel eligibility/entitlement and arranging best mode of transportation; and working with multiple computer technology, software and databases to enter data, prepare various correspondence and reports. (Resume must clearly support responses to the online questionnaire to receive credit.)
