You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in the G-F DEPARMENT of MARINE CORPS BASE.

Duties

You will pass instructions received from the supervisor to other employees, demonstrates proper work methods and starts work. You will check work in progress and when finished for compliance with supervisor's instructions on work sequence, procedures, methods, and deadlines and urges or advises other employees to follow supervisors instructions and to meet deadlines. You will assure that safety and housekeeping rules are followed. You will perform maintenance and repair to all utility plant equipment and auxiliaries, such as oil / water separators, lift stations, raw water wells booster pump stations, You will diagnose entire systems in order to repair system sub-units.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You must pass confined space entry training within 6 months of starting this position.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.
  • You will be required to lift and carry heavy objects, such as pipes, valves, motors, pumps, etc., weighing up to 45 pounds without assistance and 100 pounds or more with assistance.
  • You will be climbing ladders or steps to heights of 60 feet and works in close and cramped areas.
  • Must have ability to withstand abnormal temperatures and laborious exertion for short periods of time. Must have normal vision, color perception, and hearing.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Exposed to possibility of burns, bruises and cuts from moving parts of machinery, subject to exposure to chlorine, calcium hypochlorite fumes, dirt, grease, dust from lime, and normal hazards of working on ladders or scaffolds.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE: Installing, replacing, adjusting and setting various regulating or safety devices, such as meters, gauges, governors, and automatic alarms.
