You will serve as a Security Specialist for the Security Manager of STRIKE FIGHTER WING PACIFIC STAFF.

Duties

You will serve as the command’s Assistant Security Manager of the myriad of security management programs and services for CSFWP personnel. Your will investigate, analyze, and resolve a variety of unusual security challenges, questions or conditions associated with the security management arena. You will formulate and recommend personnel security investigative requirements and advise on procedures for adverse security determination and employee rights. You will plan, develop, coordinate, and implement required security management policies and procedures throughout the command as directed. You will maintain continuing responsibility for the development, installation and management of an effective information security program. You will report to the Security Manager for conduct of the command’s Industrial Security Program as well as being the Assistant Contracting Officer Security Representative (COSR) for the CSFWP enterprise. You will assist in the implementation of a comprehensive Security Education and Awareness Training program. You will provide initial security management indoctrination, NATO briefs, annual derivative classification training, annual security refresher training, and annual counter-intelligence awareness training for all command personnel. You will make authoritative determinations and advise on technical security problems as they relate to the organization and the agency’s mission.

  • Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position requires employee to complete and obtain Security Professional Education and Development (SPeD) certification within two years of date of hire, reassignment, or placement after 18 Sep 2020.
  • This positon requires SPeD certification be maintained in accordance with SECNAVINST 5500.38. The SPeD certification identified for this position is: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC).
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Analyzing security methods to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements in command policies by inspecting industrial, information, and personnel security operations for a Security Management Program. Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

Successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
OR
Successful completion of three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
OR
Successful completion of an LL.M. degree that is related to the position being filled.
OR
A combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
