About the Position: This position is located with the: US Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, Programs and Project Management Division, Civil Works Branch in Sacramento, CA.
Duties
Serves as the Section Chief in the Civil Works Branch.
Supervises and manages a staff of program and project managers, administrative and support team members.
Works with Branch Chief to ensure vertical and horizontal integration of products to produce the projects and manage the program for the district.
Exercises delegated authority for management decisions related to major District Civil Works program and projects.
Applies an extensive knowledge of management concepts, principles, and practices, as well as a general knowledge of the methods, practices, and processes of technical disciplines.
Confers with project managers regarding project requirements and objectives, and plans for accomplishment.
Reviews status and progress of projects, provides management guidance and direction, and provides advice and/or decision on policy matters.
Oversees all phases of project development to ensure integration and coordination within established time frames.
Typical projects include civil works projects such as flood control, storm damage prevention, channel improvements, dams, environmental restoration, river stabilization, navigation, etc., and associated rights-of-way and relocations.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Incumbent must obtain a Facilities Engineering (FE) Level III certification within 24 months from the start of employment.
- Incumbent must submit upon entry and annually a Financial Disclosure Agreement.
- Incumbent must obtain and maintain possession of or ability to acquire a valid state driver's license.
