About the Position: Serves as Information Technology Specialist (Customer Support). Provides customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements.
Duties
Provids customer assistance, and/or training, in response to customer requirements.
Independently troubleshoot computer problems, conduct research, provide answers or determine solutions to technical questions relating to suspected hardware/software or network failures.
Initiate diagnostics and uses advanced diagnostics utilities to recover lost files, folders, disk, and memory problems.
Install, sets up, upgrades, configure and troubleshoot various types of information systems with diverse computer platforms and peripherals to be used on the local area network.
Support outlying and remote buildings in all hardware and software configurations and provides support requiring the technician to load/unload equipment and drive to remote sites.
Serve as customer advocate for the Range Control Branch, answering inquiries on a wide variety of topics in reference to a variety of computer and software issues
Retain contact with vendor via telephonic, correspondence or Internet access for support on software and hardware issues.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- The employee may be required to be on call and carry a GFE cell phone and laptop at times.
- This position requires the employee to obtain and maintain all applicable IA certifications (Baseline and Computing Environment) as well as the required CE training within 6 months of hire IAW DOD Directive 8140.01, dated 11 August 2015.
- Incumbent is required to obtain and maintain all certifications within six (6) months of employment.
- Incumbent must posses and maintain a state's driver's license.
- Incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes providing information technology system customer support to include responding to technical end user problems and identifying software or hardware malfunctions. My specialized experience includes, or was supplemented by, information technology related experience (paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training, as appropriate) which demonstrates each of the four competencies, as defined:
(1) Attention to Detail - Completing work independently that rarely requires editing or review by others.
(2) Customer Service - Resolving simple and routine problems, questions, or complaints and providing support and guidance to customers on non-routine issues; serving as a primary resource for customers, requesting assistance with complex issues when necessary; and participating in meetings and providing advice to customers in own area of expertise.
(3) Oral Communication - Expressing facts and ideas in a clear, concise, convincing, and organized manner; clearly conveying moderately complex ideas, concepts, and information to customers; exhibiting active listening by demonstrating understanding of audience comments and/or questions; and
(4) Problem Solving - Identifying and solving problems by gathering and applying information from a variety of materials or sources that provide several alternatives; recognizing and taking action to address non-routine problems; soliciting feedback from multiple stakeholders to understand an issue or problem and accurately assess its root causes and potential solutions; seeking supervisory review where appropriate.

Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Computer Science.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).
