About the Position: Incumbent will serve as a Family Advocacy Program Specialist under the general supervision of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Manager, Army Community Service (ACS) at a large or medium garrison.

Duties

Serve as a Family Advocacy Program Specialist, coordinating prevention services; administration; evaluation; and training efforts of the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) on the installation to ensure regulatory compliance. Plan, develop, and implement an installation wide family advocacy program. Evaluate the needs for direct services, training, preventive education, causes of, and appropriate resolution for Family Advocacy Programs. Assist in program budget development within the family advocacy program arena.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Child Care National Agency Check (CNACI).
  • This position requires a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles or incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Must possess and maintain installation driving privileges. Installation driving privileges are automatically granted unless suspended or revoked.
  • This is a Mission Essential Position.
  • Commensurate with mission requirements, the incumbent can be required to work irregular duty hours to include working nights, weekends, and holidays.

Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science, or related disciplines appropriate to the position, such as Psychology, Psychiatry, Sociology, Counseling or Social Work. Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR C. Experience: Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Assisting military personnel and their families in the area of child/spouse abuse; 2) Providing information on domestic violence and abuse to victims; and 3) Providing counseling, referral to agencies and reporting procedures for cases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11 or above). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. NOTE: To support the Advancement requirement you MUST submit a copy of your latest non-award SF-50 that reflects your highest grade held on a permanent basis along with your application/resume package. You must meet the one year time-in-grade requirement so you will need to provide an SF-50 which clearly demonstrates you meet the time-in-grade requirements.
