Salary: $29 - 38 per hour

You will serve as an AIR CONDITIONING EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the Production Division of NAVFAC ENGINEERING CMD MID-ATLANTIC.

Duties

You will diagnose, locate and repair malfunctions to the main operating mechanical components the large, complex heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. (HVAC). You will inspect for refrigerant leaks and utilize a recovery/recycling station in compliance with Environmental Protection Agency standards to safely reclaim, recycle, and store refrigerant prior to performing repairs. You will repair HVAC systems and components in various structures to include those with areas that have special requirements. You will conduct visual and audible inspections of equipment components using established test procedures and equipment, while investigating potential causes of equipment failure. You will maintain, calibrate, modify, install, repair and replace analog and direct digital controls (DDC) system and equipment.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • You May be considered as Essential and required to report for duty or held in a duty status to provide support before, during and/or after special emergency situation.
  • You must currently possess an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal certification.
  • You must be able to become certified in confined Space Safety, Backflow Prevention, and Refrigerant Recovery.
  • You may at any time be reassigned to a similar position at any site or workstation within the commuting area.
