You will serve as a NON-NUCLEAR SHIP SYSTEM INSPECTOR in the Quality Assurance Division of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will perform inspections and tests on non-nuclear mechanical, piping, and structural systems, including subassemblies and component parts related to deep diving submarines. You will witness shop and shipboard tests to verify and document component, equipment, and system strength and tightness as well as satisfactory operation and performance. You will verify and witness in process phases of the painting process for surveillance or third-party independent inspections. You will participate in the conduct of audits and in-process surveillance, submit reports and recommend corrective action to discrepancies. You will maintain files, charts, plans, and status reports of inspections, work documents, and deficiencies.

Requirements

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You may be required to lift tools and equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
