You will serve as a NON-NUCLEAR SHIP SYSTEMS INSPECTOR LEADER in the Quality Assurance Division of TRIDENT REFIT FACILITY, BANGOR.

Duties

You will perform in-process inspections at various checkpoints during repair, reassembly, test and reinstallation of systems and associated components and equipment. You will lead inspectors in the performance of in-process inspections. You will ensure safety and housekeeping rules are followed. You will direct personnel in all aspects of inspection procedures and policies related to submarine maintenance, repair, testing, and application of critically coated preservation systems. You will conduct pretest and final inspection after systems or component repairs are complete. You will witness shop and shipboard tests to verify and document component, equipment, and system strength and tightness tests, as well as satisfactory operation and performance. You will verify, witness installation of, and properly document installation and replacement of software and hardware as required by specifications.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • The work involves prolonged periods of standing, stooping, crouching, and sitting in confined or cramped quarters, under conditions of special dress, occasionally wearing special breathing apparatus.
  • The incumbent is required to work inside or out of doors in all types of weather conditions and, occasionally, works on or around rotating machinery.
  • The incumbent may be subjected to legal amounts of ionizing radiation and good judgment in the performance of duties is paramount to minimize unnecessary exposure to this hazard.
