About the Position: Incumbent serves as a Range Operator Maintainer responsible for constantly inspecting and maintaining ranges, training areas, and training facilities.

Duties

Effectively communicate safety and facility use practices and procedures to customers. Perform all duties as a Range Operator and Maintainer during day, night and all-weather conditions. Plan and carry out work independently. Provide safety on ranges in direct support of live-fire training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license, and any installation, DOD and/or Federal license or certification required for vehicle operated.
  • This position requires you to pass a pre-placement medical and annual medical surveillance exam in accordance with Occupational Health requirements.
  • The employee may be required to work irregular and other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • May be required to wear and/or use protective clothing and equipment in accordance with established health and safety regulations.
  • This position requires that the employee occasionally travel away from the normal duty station.
  • Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
  • Position requires shift work.

OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration or Human Resource Management etc. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: AdaptabilityCustomer Service (Clerical/Technical)Self-ManagementTeamwork Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
