This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: Hawaii has many outdoor activities all year round including surfing, paddling, diving, fishing, and hiking.
Duties
Serves as an Environmental Protection Specialist for the Environmental Division, Directorate of Public Works (DPW), U.S. Army Garrison Hawaii.
Responsible for development and implementation of environmental protection policies and programs.
Responsible for providing technical assistance to tenant and Garrison operations that may have an environmental component, in order to improve operations, and ensure compliance.
Secures environmental permits and permit modifications for the construction and operation of prototypical chemical demilitarization facilities.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- COR certification within one year of appointment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain Secret security clearance eligibility based on a Tier 3 (T3) or equivalent investigation.
- Incumbent is required to submit a Financial Disclosure Statement upon entering the position and annually thereafter.
- This position requires 10% temporary duty travel (TDY).

One year specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service including development and implementation of environmental protection policies and programs AND providing technical assistance to operations that may have an environmental component, in order to improve operations, and ensure compliance.
