This position is part of the Organization of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incumbent leads, manages, trains, and develops competent Joint Staff multi­media (MM)/ visual information (VI) personnel to support activities necessary to meet Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs' priorities through regular personal and electronic engagement at the senior level with the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Staff Directorates, Services, Combatant Commands (CCMD), and interagency partners.

Duties

As a Multimedia Functional Manager at the GS-1001-14 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as the subject matter expert and functional manager for planning, programming, directing, and providing technical supervision of the operations of the Branch. Serves as the technical expert on Multimedia Visual Information processes and support capabilities, manages Branch property and system resources, and advises the Branch Chief on best practices within the Multimedia Visual Information realm. Identifies issues, conducts research, and devises new analytical techniques to evaluate findings and make authoritative recommendations. Oversees the production program of highly complex visual projects in a high pressure, fast-paced, high volume environment that are presented to senior officials within The Joint Staff, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Congress, and the President. Serves as the primary consultant and advisor for computer graphics multi-media presentations and long-range multi-media enhancements in both the hardware and software arenas.

  • Employee may be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime during peak work periods. Occasional participation in demanding, intense, 24-hour exercise operations is also required. Multi-day overnight stays at exercise sites may be required.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GS-14 grade level, if you fulfill the following qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service: Applying knowledge and technical skills to evaluate and operate Multimedia Visual Information equipment/systems and applies the theories of graphic arts and communication design to ensure mission objectives are met. Preparing and utilizing Multimedia Visual Information video/television products, graphic arts systems, and computer/electronic digital imaging delivery systems to optimize production and provide comprehensive training. Managing, overseeing and implementing security, safety and Multimedia Visual Information directives, instructions, policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance. Developing original ideas, designs, concepts, and visual styles to transform and translate oral and written subject matter and information into visual designs or information Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education

Substitution of education may not be used in lieu of specialized experience for this grade level.
