Duties

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), some of your typical work assignments may include:

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • A background investigation is required.
  • This is a bargaining unit position.
  • Generally, male applicants must be registered with the Selective Service.
  • If using education to qualify, you must submit transcripts.
  • Relocation expenses will not be paid.
  • You may be required to divest certain energy-related securities.

Qualifications

To view the eligibility and qualification requirements of an IT Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210, please visit: IT Specialist, 2210 | Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (ferc.gov) GS-09 - You can qualify based on your education, master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, OR one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 level OR have a combination of education and experience. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience with assigning and tracking of training; and staying current with sources of security news. GS-11 - You can qualify based on your education, Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, OR one full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 level OR have a combination of education and experience. Specialized experience is defined as: Experience with creating, assigning, and tracking of security awareness training; writing security policies and/or procedures; staying current with sources of security news; and communicating with a diverse set of stakeholders. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including any volunteer experience.
