Duties
As a Public Health Advisor you will:
Establish and maintain an integrated system of information gathering and reporting devices and analyzes the data and assesses the program needs in terms of strategies, services, and resources.
Plan and administer a comprehensive public health program, including, but not limited to, service delivery, assessment, surveillance, quality assurance, partnerships and collaborations, outreach, orientation, training, reporting, and program implementation and evaluation.
Collect and analyze data to address highly complex program needs. Develop and/or recommend program intervention, prevention, and/or control strategies. Prepare reports for use in evaluating program operations and the other work incidental to the development of information gathering system.
Perform duties related to the development, extension, and improvement of health care systems and/or communications.
Identify and make recommendations regarding areas where an educational approach can have a significant impact on public health, thereby reducing the need for regulatory activities when promoting the safe and effective use of products on patients and by lay users.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-11 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level, which must include the following experience:
Specialized experience is experience at or equivalent to which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience in providing advice and assistance to State and local public health programs on matters relating to the implementation of their public health programs.
OR
Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
