You will serve as a LEAD FIREFIGHTER (BLS/HAZMAT TECHNICIAN) in the NAVY AND FIRE EMERGENCY SERVICES DEPARTMENT of NAS PENSACOLA.

Duties

You will Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) or automatic external defibrillation (AED) during respiratory and cardiac emergencies. You will Instruct new firefighters on entry-level courses (e.g., Essentials of Firefighting in Fire Behavior, Portable Extinguishers, Self-Contained Breathing and Apparatus, or similar course). You will Collaborate with fire fighter personnel to ensure emergency responses (e.g., fire suppression, injured victims, hazardous spill cleanup) are assigned. You will Lead a crew of three or more firefighters assigned to staff a pumper, aerial ladder truck, or rescue vehicle in firefighting and rescue operations. You will Identify personal protective equipment and control equipment for inclusion in planning an initial response.

  • This position works a 72 hour weekly, 144 hour bi-weekly non-embedded schedule.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties: 1) Preparing reports concerning fire runs, training, maintenance, and inspections to keep supervisor informed; 2) Leading structural firefighting duties for facilities that include research and/or large industrial complexes; 3)Performing pre-fire planning by physically going through structures to become familiar with layout, fire hazards and location of fixed fire protection systems to maintain up to date knowledge for fighting structural fires; 4) Leading crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic and/or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high; 5) Driving/operating firefighting vehicles to include pumpers, aerial ladder truck, and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting vehicles considering factors such as wind direction, sources of water, hazards from falling structures, location of armament on aircraft to maintain safety of operations; 6) Surveying hazardous material incidents to identify materials involved, determine whether hazardous materials have been released and surrounds conditions to predict likely behavior of hazardous materials; and 7) Administering emergency medical care and preparing victims for transport to medical facilities. You will be required to obtain and maintain a current certification. ****This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Fire Officer I, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I, Fire Fighter I/II, Driver/Operator Pumper, Airport Firefighter, Driver/Operator ARFF, Driver/Operator Aerial; HAZMAT Materials Technician. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all the above certifications, you will be rate ineligible. National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Life Support (NREMT-B) Copy of Certification MUST be submitted with your application. If you do not possess all the above certifications and provide a copy with your application, you will be rated ineligible. I have the required certifications.
