Duties
This position is located within the Department of the Interior, Office of the Secretary of the Interior (OS), Indian Arts and Crafts Board (IACB), in Washington, DC.
At the full performance level (GS-5) the major duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Manages all incoming correspondence and communications addressing those items that individual can do on their own and redirecting other items to appropriate staff.
Responsible for composing a variety of correspondence for review of the Director and staff.
Handles preparation of material for IACA mailing campaigns and events.
Responsible for maintaining the office organization to include management of supplies, IACA brochures and promotional items.
Responsible for maintaining the hard and electronic file systems.
Assists with timekeeping and basic travel reservations.
The Office of the Secretary of the Interior (OS) has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for telework only during an emergency or natural disaster.
Salary Information
GS-5: $45,146 - $58,686 per annum
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the lower salary range of the grade level.
This vacancy may be used to fill additional positions as vacancies become available.
This vacancy is also announced as OS-6024-25-AW-002(MP) for those applicants who wish to apply and be considered under Merit Promotion procedures.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
To qualify for this position at the GS-05 grade level you must meet either (A) Specialized Experience, (B) Education, or (C) Combination of Education and Experience for the grade to which you are applying.
A. Specialized Experience:
To qualify for the GS-5, you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-4 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is defined as demonstrated experience:
1) Answering email and telephone inquiries;
2) Maintaining hard copy and electronic records;
3) Organizing and compiling documents for distribution;
4) Drafting, reviewing, and editing written correspondence to ensure effective content, grammar, and punctuation;
5) Making travel reservations.

B. Education: At least four FULL academic years (120 semester hours) beyond high school at an accredited institution.

C. Combination of education and experience: A combination of education and experience that totals 100% of the required specialized experience.
Typing Proficiency: In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for the grade level above, ALL applicants must show possession of 40 words per minute typing speed.
