You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TESTING INSPECTOR LEADER in the MRO PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will apply detailed knowledge and experience in performing incoming, in-process, post rework, and analytical nondestructive inspection of components and structures for all types of aircraft. You will apply the selected method and technique to specified areas on assembled or disassembled aircraft, engines, missiles, ground support equipment, and related components as well as stock material in various stages of fabrication or repair. You will interpret instructions received from supervisors and plan the division of the workload accordingly, based on the employee's availability, ability, and capability. You will request personnel in accordance with workload requirements and assure that the necessary blueprints, tools, directives, and supplies are obtained. You will counsel trainees on their performance and progress. You will assist engineering personnel during analytical rework operations and aircraft crash damage investigations.

Requirements

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO LEAD OR SUPERVISE. 1) Being consulted by other journeyman shop employees on the most difficult tasks and have led work team(s), 2) on an ongoing basis, relaying instructions from supervisor to other trade workers; 3) planning and assigning immediate tasks; ensuring plans, blueprints, materials, tools, and equipment are available, as required; 4) briefing co-workers on work processes, practices, new procedures, and directives; coordinating work of co-workers to ensure event schedules are met; 5) inspecting work in progress; updating supervisor on progress of work and cause(s) of delay; 6) answering questions on overall work operations and problems encountered; interpreting blueprints, sketches, and work orders for co-workers.
