You will serve as a NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST INSPECTOR in the Industrial Processes Division of the MRO Production Department of FLTREADCEN EAST.

Duties

You will perform traditional nondestructive inspection of castings, forgings, machined parts, test plates, welds, metal cladding, pipes, bar stock, flat metal sheets, airframe and engine assemblies and nonmetallic materials. You will measure instruments and chemical applicable to the total range of nondestructive examination methods. You will calibrate and operate traditional test equipment such as ultrasonic testing (UT) equipment, eddy current testing (ET) equipment, magnetic particle testing (MT) equipment, and penetrant testing (PT) equipment. You will Inspect parts for flaws or defects, discontinuities in patterns, interprets indications and documents flaws or defects in material and prepares reports on defective parts. You will work with subordinate inspectors to set the pace and demonstrate proper inspection methods and may be required to work with trainees.

  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: 1) Calibrates and operates traditional test equipment such as ultrasonic testing (UT) Equipment. 3) Inspects parts for flaws or defects, discontinuities in patterns, interprets indications and documents flaws or defects in material and prepares reports on defective parts. 3) Works with subordinate inspectors to set the pace and demonstrate proper inspection methods and may be required to work with trainees. 4) Performs traditional nondestructive inspection of castings, forgings, machined parts, test plates, welds, metal cladding, pipes, bar stock, flat metal sheets, airframe and engine assemblies and nonmetallic materials (composites) 5) Reads and interprets specifications, sketches, blueprints, technical directives, manuals and shop orders to interpret and/or develop information on products to be tested and examined.
