Duties

Serving as a Counseling Psychologist GS-0180-13 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Student Services Division (SSD) under the Mission Readiness Support Directorate and located in Glynco, Georgia. The primary purpose of the position is to advise and give guidance to those requesting assistance from the program. Typical duties include: Providing expertise and demonstrating professional knowledge of current, developing, and emerging theories, strategies, technologies, protocols and techniques in rendering services for a wide variety of mental health concerns.

Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, you must meet the following requirements: Educational Requirements: please see below in the Education section of this announcement (You must provide a copy of your transcripts) Must possess a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) certification. (You must provide a copy of your certificate) Specialized Experience Specialized Experience Required: You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level as a licensed mental health professional, providing expertise and demonstrating professional knowledge of current, developing, and emerging theories, strategies, technologies, protocols and techniques in rendering services for a wide variety of mental health concerns, inclusive of but not limited to acute and post- traumatic stress, critical incident response, and work/family related stress. All qualifications and eligibility requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement. Note: Current or former Federal employees MUST submit a copy of their SF-50 Form which shows competitive service appointment ("position occupied" block 34 on the SF-50 should show a "1"), tenure group (block 24 should show a 1 or 2), grade, and salary. Re-employed annuitants' annual salaries will be reduced by the amount of their retirement annuity and by further cost of living increases. Work Environment: The work is usually performed in a typical office setting; however, requirement of 24-hour availability is crucial. The nature of the work is intrusive into private life. Education

Positions with Positive Education: In addition to the qualifications listed above, you must possess the following level of education by the closing date of this announcement: Counseling psychology: For positions at grades GS-9 and above, satisfactory completion of 2 full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, OR satisfactory completion in an accredited educational institution of all the requirements for a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required.
