Duties

Serving as a Research Engineering Psychologist GS-0180-13 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located in the Instructor Development and Curriculum Research Branch (IDR), Accreditation and Instructional Systems Division (AID), under the Training Management Operations Directorate (TMO) within the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) located in Glynco, GA. The position serves as the technical expert, and team leader associated with researching, reviewing, evaluating and reporting on those training methodologies, technologies and/or simulation application(s) within the assigned specific functional or specialized areas of training. Typical assignments include: - Developing the research scope, objectives and methods for proposed research using available resources. - Formulating applied research to areas which have been identified as obstacles to successful performance in law enforcement training. - Conducting descriptive, univariate, and multivariate analyses, interpreting and integrating the results into tables, charts, and reports that support the mission of training research. - Serving as project manager, overseeing the execution of the data collection, coordinating the activities of all staff involved, providing routine reports on project status, timelines, budget, team involvement, and potential outcomes. - Engaging in dissemination and outreach activities, such as publishing scholarly work and attends scientific conferences; and collaborates and consults with staff to prepare or direct contributions to articles and publications.

All applicants must meet the BASIC REQUIREMENT listed below: Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree in Psychology or included in a major field of study or specific course requirements (24 semester hours) in Psychology. A copy of your transcripts is required. In addition to the basic requirements listed above, you must meet the following specialized experience requirements to be considered minimally qualified for this position: Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:1) Developing objectives for proposed research using available resources 2) Determining suitable methods of analysis and designing test procedures and 3) Executing plans in support of strategic goals. All requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
