Duties
The purpose of this position is to plan, manage, and administer comprehensive health and wellness, and fitness programming at Marine Barracks Washington in Washington, DC. The program serves a population of active duty, reserve, retired military personnel, their family members, civilians, and other authorized customers. The incumbent will plan, develop, organize, manage, and supervise diverse and comprehensive health and wellness programs which include classes on nutrition, smoking, fitness, sexually transmitted disease, injury prevention, obesity, substance abuse, disease management, and healthy shopping. Ensures required annual training is accomplished at the unit level, and coordinates with unit commanders on installation outreach programs to include health risk assessments, health screenings, seminars, classes, workshops, and annual training requirements. May teach group exercise classes; administer self-directed fitness programs, incentive programs, special events, and instructional programs. Assist with management, supervision and operational support of the Gym Fitness Centers. Assist with HITT programming, coaching and administration. May provide support to the Sports programs. Assist with Semper Fit special events.Serves as the installation liaison with agencies internal and external to the Marine Corps for the purpose of enhancing, administering, coordinating, and integrating health promotions and wellness programming aboard the installation. Establishes a comprehensive annual plan, to include program goals and objectives that align with Marine Corps Policy, program metrics and the Healthy People 2010 objectives, and that identifies and prioritizes health risks of the given population.Surveys and evaluates patron interest and needs. Continually evaluates the effectiveness of ongoing activities, resources, and program objectives, and adapts and alters program activities based on findings. May initiate purchase requests for required equipment, supplies, and services. May be assigned as a purchase cardholder. Performs a variety of administrative tasks to include but not limited to establishing and updating operating procedures, preparing management narratives, after action reports etc.Reports significant issues and problems related to work accomplishment to the higher-level supervisor. Supervises, mentors, advises, appraises, assigns work to, and reviews the work of subordinates.Conducts, monitors, updates, and documents a comprehensive training program to ensure all staff members and volunteers possess the necessary skills and knowledge for their position. Coordinates with marketing staff to plan and develop promotions and advertising, commercial sponsorship, and publicity strategies. Coordinates and implements joint programs with other Semper Fit and MCCS activities.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A bachelor¿s degree is required in one of the following areas: Health Promotions, Health Education, Nutrition, Public Health, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or a related field. Multiple sport high school athletic participation preferred. Coaching and experience with college and elite level athletes and/or teams preferred. Certification in coaching and fitness preferred. CPR, AED, and first aid must be obtained and kept current throughout employment. USAW Level 1 and CSCS must be obtained within first 12 months of employment. Competency in public speaking, professional writing,computer literacy, and desktop publishing skills are preferred. Physical dexterity, ability to conduct exercise classes, stand for long periods of time, regularly lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently, and carry objects over 45lbs with assistance may be required. This position will require physical labor, the ability to demonstrate exercise techniques, and office / administrative work. A valid driver¿s license and the ability to drive is required.
