You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NON-NUCLEAR SERVICE CONTINUING TRAINING DEVELOPMENT MANAGER in the Preservation Shop (Code 970) Production Resource Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department (Code 900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will review, approve and direct work operations in the execution of a project within an assigned zone of work, determining total resource requirements and allocation.
You will take necessary actions to achieve cost and schedule commitments, adjusting plans and schedules accordingly, while maintaining balance workloads.
You will determine and provide resolution of operational and maintenance problems with shipyard and ship’s personnel.
You will ensure safe work practices are followed.
You will develop, evaluate and implement a continuous training plan that will provide a proficient workforce for production personnel performing non nuclear work.
You will evaluate current shop metrics and workplace deficiencies to aid in the development of training.

- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience applying a comprehensive range of principles, concepts, and practices concerning equipment facility, or services operations with complicated technical requirements.
Experience performing research to develop and maintain a broad knowledge of all phases of employee development and training.
Experience approving and directing work operations associated with the repair and overhaul of complex Navy vessels.
Experience applying a wide range of education and training principles, techniques, and practices, including OSHA, NAVSEA, Federal/State environmental regulations.
Experience in project management, quality control, cost control, personnel management, schedule control and workflow control techniques
Experience investigating and analyzing practices and problems to initiate effective improvements and solutions.
