These positions are located in Yosemite National Park, in the Buildings and Grounds Branch of the Facility Management Division.
These are Career-Seasonal positions and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment, but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis.
Duties
Duties include but are not limited to:
Perform facility and ground maintenance duties utilizing knowledge and skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing, roofing, electrical, heating and cooling systems, and masonry trades. Work safely, and care for common power, hand tools and materials associated with these trades. Interpret instructions and specifications (includes blueprints, technical manuals). Perform recurring building/structure maintenance and operation duties utilizing journey level knowledge and skills in a variety of trades. Duties require competence and working knowledge of accepted practices of the applicable trade and craft areas to perform the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
Physical Demands: Physical effort is heavy to moderate and requires occasional lifting or handling of objects or materials up to 50 pounds, unassisted, following proper lifting procedures to avoid injury. Frequently required to stand while working, climb ladders or scaffolding, and bend, stoop, climb and work in awkward positions. Subject to danger of falling from ladders or scaffolding. Exposure to dust, dirt, wind and rain. May work with dangerous chemicals and around moving equipment; paint, solvents, and may be exposed to electrical shocks and biting insects.
Working Conditions: The incumbent must work in elevations ranging from 2,000 to 10,000 feet. Temperatures vary from 0-115 degrees. May be required to work in snow with icy driving conditions involved. Work is performed indoors and outdoors in areas that may have inadequate hearting an, ventilation, or lighting and in adverse weather condition. May be exposed to dust, dirt, grease, hazardous materials, asbestos, lead, chemicals, fumes, noise, pollen, and biting insects. May work around moving equipment/machinery. Must wear personal protective equipment whenever conditions warrant their use. May be exposed to electrical shocks and the possibility of burns, cuts, sprains, bruises and respiratory ailments.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will not be paid. All travel, transportation, and relocation expenses associated with reporting for duty in this position will be the sole responsibility of the selected employee.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Worker WG-4749-08 without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN OUT)
This includes work experience performing the following maintenance duties in at least 2 of the following trades: carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, roofing, heating and cooling systems (HVAC), and masonry. Selected tools and materials, choose methods and techniques to use, and carried out work independently. Does not need any technical assistance to perform most tasks. Able to troubleshoot more complex problems and take initiative to solve problems and accomplish work assignments safely, without more than normal supervision. Possesses knowledge of a variety of trade terminology, tools, and equipment.
