This position is located in Yosemite National Park, in the Facility Management Division. This job announcement is open to receive applications from the first 100 applicants. Duties

This is a Career-Seasonal position and subject to release and recall procedures. A permanent career-seasonal position includes all the benefits of permanent employment but does not provide employment on a full year-round basis. As such, selectee will be in a non-pay/non-duty status for at least 2 weeks to 6 months per year based on project requirements or weather conditions. Selectee are guaranteed to work at least 6 months per year but not more than 50 weeks per year, with the work schedule to be determined upon appointment. The typical season for Yosemite National Park is February through December, but can be variable during these months due to project requirements or weather conditions. Assist the Trail Worker Supervisor in the direction and instruction of on-the-job trail work projects and in camp safety operations which includes the following activities: Trail Maintenance; Dry stone trail construction; We stone construction; Bridge construction; Rigging tasks. Training and directing groups of laborers and trail workers in maintenance, repair and construction of trail projects, inspecting their work in progress and upon completion; Assisting animal packing in transporting; Operating trail cats, mounted snow plows and sanders; Camp maintenance and management tasks including camp layout and all aspects of camp moves and set up. Communicate with supervisor regarding work plans and tasks. Maintain a crew safety program and relay to crew good situational awareness; Actively participate in an effective safety program to safeguard visitors, employees, environment, facilities, and equipment, including vehicles.

Requirements Continued: Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability to interpret instruction, specifications, etc. (includes blueprint reading) Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment. Knowledge of materials Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc. Use of Measuring Instruments If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
