Duties

As a Mission Support Specialist, at the full performance level, you will perform the following duties: Manages and oversees a wide variety of administrative and management services essential to the operations of the office. Advises management on assigned administrative matters. Conducts or participates in evaluating administrative programs, systems and methods and identify ways to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of these services at the local level. Represents the office in dealings with vendors and organizations within the agency that have primary responsibility for these services. Applies a wide range of administrative programs, concepts, laws, policies, practices, and analytical diagnostic methods and techniques to address substantive matters that contain several interrelated issues.

  • Probationary Period: This is a full-time permanent position (Career/Career-Conditional appointment). Upon appointment to this position, you may be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

You qualify for the GS-09 grade level if you possess one of the following: Experience: (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Performing a wide variety of administrative and management services essential to the operations of the office including, but not limited to budget, management analysis, human resources management, training, logistics/procurement, safety, telecommunications, space, records and files, mail, travel, and asset management. Providing administrative support assistance in any administrative specialty to staff, managers, analysts, or similar. Responding to non-routine questions about administrative procedures. OR Education: A master's or equivalent graduate degree, or two (2) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or a LL.B/J.D., if related. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed graduate level education and experience as described above that totals at least one year. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. You qualify for the GS-11 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience at the GS-09 grade level or equivalent performing duties such as: Coordinating and monitoring a variety of administrative and management services essential to the operations of the office including, but not limited to budget, management analysis, human resources management, training, logistics/procurement, and safety, telecommunications, space, records and files, mail, travel, fleet, and asset management Providing management advisory services on any administrative specialty. Analyzing administrative data from a variety of sources to develop trends, patterns, profiles, estimates and studies. Preparing preliminary and final reports and documents. OR Education: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three (3) full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or a LL.M., if related. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and activities necessary to do the work. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of successfully completed graduate education beyond the first full two years and experience as described above that when combined meets 100% of the requirement. Graduate level education must have been from an accredited college or university and must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.
