This position is located in Field Operations Directorate, Office of Field Operations, Investor Program Office (IPO).
As an Economist, you will conduct complex economic research, apply such research to complex problems, develop analytical techniques for economic studies and conduct special analyses of major economic issues.
Duties
The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
Conduct extensive immigration and policy oriented analysis on issues related to economics.
Plan and conduct project analysis on detailed information related to business economics, financial economics, and real estate economics.
Review quantitative models, qualitative evaluations, and other analytical techniques to assess complex information related to various areas of economics.
Execute and prepare regulatory evaluations an economic impact assessments and other related economics issues under the requirements of various Executive Orders and laws that govern federal rule making.
Independently prepare reports, briefings, and written analyses presenting complex economic information for a variety of audiences.

This announcement is issued under the Direct Hire Authority to recruit for positions for which the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, has a critical hiring need.
Basic Requirements: All applicants must meet the following basic requirements: (Must be supported in Transcripts from an accredited institution, Resume and/or Applicable Certificate)
Degree: economics, that included at least 21 semester hours in economics and 3 semester hours in statistics, accounting, or calculus.
OR
Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major in economics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
GS-13: You qualify at the GS-13 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Conducting analysis and complex reviews on issues and problems related to business and financial economics;
Making policy supported determinations based on the application of economics and practices;
Preparing written reports, analysis, and results derived from a fundamental understanding of economics.
GS-14: You qualify at the GS-14 level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience, which is equivalent to at least the GS-13 level in the federal government, that equipped you with the skills needed to successfully perform the duties of the position. You must have experience performing the following duties:
Making final determinations and developing policy recommendations on issues and problems related to business and financial economics;
Delivering presentations and written briefings on technical results to senior leaders on matters related to economics;
Directing the development of comprehensive reports and options papers on issues, including economics and practices.
