Duties
As a Public Health Analyst (Policy) you will:
Develop projects to identify, review, and analyze complex and highly visible actions such as public health legislation, executive directives, Departmental policy issuances, voluntary changes in practice by influential organizations or groups, as well as other influential statements of public health policy to identify any potential to impact on the activities of the organization.
Propose public health program and other changes necessary to respond to changes in policy.
Identify policy needs (e.g. legislation) and coordinate the preparation of strategies and proposals in response to those needs.
Work with partners and others in the organization to ensure proper coordination of and analysis of national and state activities in support of the organization's mission and goals and represent the organization in policy and planning discussions within the organization and with external partners.
Facilitate the development of the organization's comprehensive programmatic and scientific response to emerging public health issues relevant to the organization's mission-including the establishment of new activities.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify at the GS-13 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level, which must include the following experience: performing public health legislative analysis, policy research and public health program evaluation activities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Education
Copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
College or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. For a list of schools which meet these criteria, please refer to

FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
