Boise VA Medical Center is looking to fill a Medical Support Assistant Trainer position in Primary Care Service. This position provides support to training activity primarily for the Medical Support Assistants related to scheduling and clerical role as MSA's. This position is open to VHA employees only. Duties

Other training includes re-education of staff/areas that are underperforming on variety of metrics (insurance capture, scheduling software, consult toolbox, etc.) Trainer will also perform other ongoing education to Primary Care staff in face-to-face settings such as communication and customer service skills, professional development planning, activities encompassing scheduling, follow-up of appointment schedule, provider panel management, and maintenance of reports. This position functions in an advanced level capacity, providing advisory and technical assistance to employees performing such tasks. Preparation for PowerPoint training documents and preparing written reports of training required. Other duties include but are not limited to the following: Provides administrative, advisory, and technical support to MSAs. Primary responsibility for providing lectures, one-on-one training, on site mentoring, and support over the phone and/or web based. Responsible for teaching and mentoring others on how to enter demographic, insurance, and income information into the Veterans Information systems and Technology Architecture (VistA) system. Develops, reviews, analyzes, implements, conducts, and evaluates training courses and programs related to Primary Care area such as Eligibility/Enrollment, Access to Care, Scheduling, Admissions, Special Programs, Telephone Communications, Scanning, Release of Information, Insurance Collection, Privacy, Records Management, Consult Management, as well as training on new directives and processes that interrelate within Business Office sections/units and/or with other areas. Conducts and evaluates employee training needs assessments to provide guidance to Primary Care management and supervisory staff on establishing and operating internal training programs, developing, or obtaining/purchasing training aids and selecting appropriate training resources. Develops and updates courses (including web-based) policies, guidelines, instructional methods, materials, etc., for Primary Care training programs and provides instructions regarding on-line training methods. Serves as the Primary Care coordinator for tracking of all employee education and training hours utilizing established computer system software and will use this to prepare reports on the status of training hours and mandatory courses. Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements within 30 days of this announcement closing date 10/24/2024. Basic Requirements: United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency. MSAs must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Handbook 5005, part II, chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3j. Specialized Experience must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-6 grade level (1) collaborating with medical clinicians across multiple disciplines, scheduling interdisciplinary appointments, and possessing an advanced knowledge of policies and procedures associated with interdisciplinary coordinated care delivery and/or care in the community. **Resume must include hours per week for work experience credit. ** Candidates must demonstrate the KSAs below: 1. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology and a wide range of clinical flow processes relating to access to care across multiple clinics, specialties, and/or community resources. 2. Ability to utilize numerous advanced patient care systems in support of multiple clinics in an interdisciplinary setting. 3. Ability to organize work, set priorities, and delegate tasks/responsibilities to meet deadlines. 4. Skill in communicating with individuals to obtain the desires effect and coordinating with a variety of interdisciplinary care team staff. 5. Ability to provide staff development and training. 6. Ability to manage staffing requirements, manage workflow priorities, and adjust the flow of work to meet team and patient needs. This includes the ability to follow-up on pending issues and demonstrate an understanding of the impact if incomplete work across multiple clinics.
