About the Position: The primary purpose for the establishment of this position is to perform editorial, writing, production, and administrative duties for the INFANTRY Magazine, the professional journal of the U.S. Army Infantry School
Duties
Research and review a variety of documents and publications to determine the latest in Infantry doctrinal thinking, equipment development, tests.
Coordinate and staff original articles with various staff elements of the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE) or with interested outside agencies in order to verify content validity of article.
Design and layout magazine quarterly using desktop publishing software.
Prepare media for online distribution through social media and websites consistent with CAC and TRADOC guidance. Manage webpages in accordance with PAO guidelines.
Manage supply transaction for the Infantry School and is responsible for managing the Government Purchase card, property book support and supply requirements.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) editing a magazine or other publications (i.e. Infantry magazine) for the Army, USMC, DoD, or a civilian entity with emphasis/focus on the Close Combat Force and Infantry Tactics; 2) analyzing content and rewrites for inconsistencies and inaccuracies in written organizational material to include grammar, sentence structure, syntax, punctuation, spelling, and military terminology; and 3) researching and writing military-related content for publication. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: English, Communications or Journalism.

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages
