This position is located in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Federal Facilities Division (FFD), Pentagon Building Management Office (PBMO). The incumbent serves as Building Operations Commander Center (BOCC) Watch Commander responsible for BOCC operations and system monitoring. The BOCC is a 24-hour a day, 7 days a week operation. This position requires shift work with rotating shifts.

Duties

This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 1109 of FY 2020 NDAA; P.L. 116-92 and Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C. Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Manage, operate and monitor the utilization of building control systems (METASYS, SIMPLEX, LIFTNET, PRUN NETWORK, etc) Coordinate with building mechanics in the field on controls monitoring, system trouble shooting, and system performance. Provide coordination between mechanics, security personnel, and safety office for fire and equipment alarms. Administer plans regarding priorities for work and revisions required based on changes in plans, more effective utilization, and advisable substitutes. Responsible for ensuring required data is maintained in the CMMS and for maintaining the integrity of the database information. Develop and prepare program plan changes to optimize service to customers and occupants.

Requirements

  • Must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • This position is designated as MISSION CRITICAL. Mission Critical employees may be required to report for, or remain at, work in dismissal or closure situations due to adverse weather conditions, natural disasters, or other emergency situations.
  • The BOCC is a 24-hour a day, 7 days a week operation. This position requires the employee to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, holidays and may be subject to call 24 hours a day.
  • This position may require the incumbent to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and/or overtime.

Read more about what should I include in my federal resume? at https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include/ You may qualify at the GS 12 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS 11 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to: 1) managing a maintenance program for private or Federal facilities, which includes planning maintenance activities and developing preventive maintenance programs; and 2) operating and monitoring building control systems (e.g. METASYS, SIMPLEX, LIFTNET, PRUN NETWORK, etc.) to manage facility mechanical and electrical systems, including lighting, building security, fire alarm, elevator, escalator and HVAC systems. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
