This position is located in the Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Facilities Services Directorate (FSD), Operations (OPS), Facilities Operations and Services Division, Department of Defense (DoD).

Duties

This is a Direct Hire Public Notice, under this recruitment, applications will be accepted for each location and/or installation identified in this Public Notice and selections are made for vacancies as they occur. This position is being filled under Direct Hire Authority (DHA) in accordance with Section 9905 of Title 5, U.S.C. Incumbents typical work assignments may include the following: Managing all in-house and contractor activities engaged in the operation, maintenance, repair, alternation, update, or replacement of heating, air conditioning, electrical, ventilation, refrigeration, plumbing, steam, gas, sewage, drainage, pneumatic, and control systems on the Pentagon Reservation. Oversees the work of four supervisors, and their assigned employees, who are engaged in the day-to-day operations of the systems under the Pentagon Heating and Refrigeration Plant Program. Reviews designs, specifications and other requirements for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HV AC), refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, steam, gas, sewage, drainage, control systems and equipment, including changes and modifications, throughout the Pentagon Reservation. Develops and recommends annual work plans. Keeps the Program Manager informed about the condition of the systems under the Program's jurisdiction.

  • The employee assigned to this position is designated as a MISSION ESSENTIAL EMPLOYEE.
  • Employee must possess or obtain the following licenses - Universal Refrigerant Technician, Certification and National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers, (NIULPE), First Class Power Steam Engineer License or equivalent license.

Read more about what should I include in my federal resume? at https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/faq/application/documents/resume/what-to-include/ You may qualify at the GS-13 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service (experience may have been gained in the private sector) that demonstrates your ability to overseeing work performed on facilities containing chiller systems with industrial size heaters; utilization of the American Society of Heating, Refridgeration, and Air Conditioning Engineers standards, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements and HVAC, refridgeration, plumbing, and pnuematic systems and procurement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualifications and education requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement and clearly documented in your resume.
