You will serve as a PRODUCTION SHOP PLANNER (MARINE MACHINERY MECHANIC) in the MECHANICAL SHOP, PRODUCTION RESOURCES DEPARTMENT with the PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.
Duties
You will perform all planning required for the trade of Marine Machinery Mechanic and assist in other trades work that can be performed using previous work packages.
You will develop a plan for other trades work to be accomplished by reference to previous practices or precedents for similar situations, or by obtaining advice from other planners in the appropriate trades or from the supervisor.
You will package, assemble, accomplish Readiness Reviews, release and accomplish records review certification of the Technical Work Documents (TWDs) and supporting documents and materials needed to execute project or shop related tasks.
You will stage all TWDs and supporting documentation and material needed to support accomplishment of the task.
You will expedite and arrange the delivery of project and/or shop material and provide the necessary material status of the project.

- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- The incumbent must be familiar with and knowledgeable for following the requirements concerning the use, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.

- Coordinating the packaging and assembly of supporting documentation and materials to meet schedules, task breakdowns, and material delivery deadlines.
- Sorting information available in the database to develop task packages for the execution of work.
- Identifying new material needs, schedule, or documentation updates necessary to complete tasks.
- Initiating Deficiency Reports and Deficiency Logs for outside purchases, to make local purchases.
- Utilizing multiple processes and project computer applications to perform tasks assigned.
